Pianist Joonas Ahonen studied with Tuija Hakkila and Liisa Pohjola. He has appeared as a soloist of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Finnish RSO, Avanti! and Ictus.

Contemporary music is an essential part of his artistic activities. The world premieres include piano concertos by Jouni Kesti, Juha Leinonen, Kai Nieminen, Victor Alcántara and Giovanni Bonato.

Ahonen is the artistic director of Lux Musicae Festival and a member of Klangforum Wien.
